Mermaid of the ‘Hypersea’ - by Snorre Hansen
The ‘Hypersea’ is what Mark & Dianna McMenamin calls the water we, all living organisms, carry within.
Mermaid of the ‘Hypersea’ is a choreographic and performative research on being a body of water. It’s a dance with and by the water we all carry within, the water we are and the water that passes through us and blurs the lines between me, you and us. How can we connect with this ‘Hypersea’ and how could we become mermaids of it? Together with the dance artists David Kummer and Peter Scherrebeck Hansen, Snorre Hansen will develop and be in practices of becoming mermaids of the ‘Hypersea’.
They will spend time with the stories and dances that connects human- with more-than-human worlds, both in relation to hybrids in folklores, queer dance practices and performative states of being. They will be working in close collaboration with water and the containers, carrier bags, pipes, tubes, airs, and grounds it will be carried by, contained in and leaking through.
About Snorre Hansen Scorpio, a dance artist and a small scale gardener. As part of Danseatelier, that is both a place and a group of people in Copenhagen, he works with rhizomatic organization and collective thinking within a swamp of dance and choreography.
With Danseatelier he curates performance events, makes dances and facilitates spaces for practice sharing. He is also a part of the research group dance for plants where he unfolds plant stories, dances for plants and gets entangled in more-than-human worlds and practices. In 2015 he graduated as a dancer and choreographer from the Danish National School of Performing Arts and has been working as a dancer for choreographers such as Martin Forsberg, Naïma Mazic, Pedro Gómez-Egaña and Marie Brolin-Tani.
In summer 2017 he was a danceWEB scholarship recipient at ImPulsTanz in Vienna.
