César García Steensen has been working in the field contemporary dance for over 18 years in Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
In 2006 he made a short guest appearance at Norrdans in Härnösand, Sweden. Little did he know that Norrdans would become his home for almost 11 years. Working in a repertory company opened for endless of possibilities meeting international choreographers and dancers. He has worked with choreographers like Mats Ek, Tero Saarinen, Jo Strømgren, Jyrki Karttunen, Felix Landerer, Kajsa Giertz, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano and more. As a freelance in Denmark he worked with Kitt Jonson, Tina Tarpgaard, Kenneth Kreutzmann, Don Gnu and more.
He has always enjoyed the creative process of making a dance piece - that is where he felt most at home. To find solutions to tasks, explore new possibilities and learning about movement in general has been the red thread through the years.
THINGS HE SAID - work in progress
With DANCE ALL YEAR LONG he embarks on his most personal research/creation. With his father as starting point he looks back and reflects on his origin, what it was like to be responsible as a child. How did the world unfold itself through the eyes and ears of a child? Did all those wise words from his father turn out to be real? Is he still that refugee child - 35 years later?
