A new research project by Annamari Keskinen with Ryan Mason/ THAR BE DRAGONS
Eternal return is about constant arriving. Through surreal events and happenings we look into the layers of a person's interaction with their own fate and ask if it's possible to redesign one's destiny? Set in a confined space the piece provokes an intimate view, revealing the inner clockwork of a life event.
Annamari Keskinen is a choreographer and dancer from Helsinki Finland. Her choreographic research focuses on essences and how they manifest in different forms. How an essence informs movement, communication and presentation and what can be discovered through out this process. She explores the subtle reality of things that is present but not always seen. Annamariʼs experience with Butoh Dance and Trauma based studies holds a strong presence in her artistic research and approach to her work in theater and dance.
As a dancer, Annamari has performed in several international dance theater companies throughout Europe. She has worked with choreographers Johannes Wieland, Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea (Rootless Root), Helder Seabra, Chris Harring and Valtteri Raekallio, among others.
In 2018, THAR BE DRAGONS was brought to life, a platform for theatrical dance research, education and performance created by Annamari Keskinen and Ryan Mason. Their upcoming site-specific work, ‘dying animals don’t feel sorry for themselves’, premiering October 2018 at the KAIKU Club//Helsinki, has been supported by Koneen Säätiö and the Samuel Huber Art Foundation. THAR BE DRAGONS has been comissioned to create a new work on the dancers of the Staatstheater Kassel in the winter 2018 in Kassel, Germany. Annamari and Ryan are also part of the b12 workshop series in Berlin and hold workshops both in Europe and in North America.
