Ann Sofie Clemmensen (DK) is a choreographer, teacher and performer that for the past eight years have had her based in the United States, where she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dance at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Ann Sofie holds a Bachelor of Art from the Norwegian College of Dance, a first-class honor post-graduate degree from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (UK) and a Master of Fine Art in dance from The Ohio State University (USA). As a performer, she has worked with choreographers, such as Henri Oguike, Darshan Singh-Buller, Wendy Houston, Francesco Scavetta, Sølvi Edvardsen, Tatiana Baganova, and others.
In 2014 with funding received from the US Embassy in Copenhagen, Ann Sofie initiated a cultural exchange project between the United States and Denmark. DA[N]CE DENMARK is a performance, choreography-lab, teaching and cultural exchange program that is committed to engage with dance as a creative movement practice with many forms of expression.
